Red Cross Volunteers Respond to Single Family Fire in Lynden
WHATCOM/SKAGIT COUNTIES - The Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a minor single family residence fire on July 24 in Lynden.
The fire was isolated to one bedroom and caused smoke damage throughout the house. Red Cross volunteers provided comfort kits with hygiene items, quilts, stuffed animals, and a social services referral. A Red Cross volunteer caseworker will follow up with the family to ascertain additional needs after they speak with their insurance agent.
About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
